Reviving a legend – Polish dubbing for Gothic 1 Remake
What does it take to bring a legend back to life?
At QLOC, we have the pleasure of working on the Polish version of Gothic 1 Remake, one of the most iconic RPGs ever released. The upcoming remake by THQ Nordic aims to recreate the magic of the original while introducing it to a new generation of players.
A recently released Making Of Special video on THQ Nordic’s YouTube channel takes viewers behind the scenes of the dubbing process recorded at Roboto Sound Studio. It offers a closer look at the people and passion behind the Polish voice-over – from the returning actors to the team directing their performances.
🎙️ Among those featured is Jakub Rezmer, our Localization Project Manager from the Albion team, who directs the Polish dubbing for the game. In the video, he talks about the challenges of revisiting such a beloved classic and the responsibility that comes with preserving its spirit while giving it a modern sound.
The material also features actors Jacek Mikołajczak, Janusz Wituch and Adam Bauman – all of whom voiced characters in the original Gothic and are now returning to their legendary roles 25 years later.
As the video shows, this isn’t just a remake; it’s a tribute to a game that became a legend in Poland. The dubbing team combines experience, nostalgia and today’s production standards to ensure that the voice acting matches the visuals powered by Unreal Engine 5.
Huge thanks to THQ Nordic and Roboto Sound Studio – working on this together has been a real pleasure. And a special shoutout to Maksymilian Bogumił, who co-directed the dubbing and also voices Cavalorn in the new version.
