MEET #QLOCDRAGONS – Kamil Kordas

Meet Kamil Kordas who is our IT R&D & Junior Administrator.

We asked Kamil some questions about his work at QLOC and more!

Check out his answers below.

What’s your job at QLOC?

I’m a Junior IT Administrator. I also do some IT R&D. Being an IT Administrator means looking after servers and the services that we use. We need to make sure these servers and services are always fully functional. When it comes to R&D, my responsibility is to research interesting software that could come in handy for us.

What do you like most about your job?

Access to the latest technologies and great games.

How many games have you worked on?

When I was a tester (yes, I was a tester a couple of years ago!) I worked on 3 titles, one of them was Batman Arkham Knight and I’m very proud of my work on that title.

What have you learned from working in QLOC?

That you can achieve more if you have friends around you.

What would you advise people who think about working in QLOC?

If you love games and want to start your career in the gaming industry and maybe even create your own game, well, QLOC is a great place to start the journey!

Which game from the ones you’ve worked on is your favorite?

Batman Arkham Knight. I worked on this game for a couple of months and I still feel like playing it from time to time.

Do you have any special powers?

Rumour has it that I can fix computers by simply touching them. Something like… a computer whisperer.

What do you do in your spare time?

Right now, I’m focusing on finishing my master’s degree thesis. Once I’m done with this and my studies, I’ll surely travel to some exotic place this summer as I love getting to know new places (in the photo you can see me in Maspalomas Dunes which is pretty much a desert, it was extremely hot there). There’s also plenty of games to finish and TV shows to catch up on, too. I also like cooking vegetarian food in my spare time.

Are you #PCMasterRace or #TeamConsole? 🙂

#PCMasterRace and that buttery smooth framerate is my jam. I only play exclusives on consoles.

Enter the title of your favorite game, movie/series and book.

It’s really hard to name one. It’s like having a whole collection of games and saying you’ve got nothing to play. I guess when it comes to the recent years, I’d say Life is Strange (entire series). And when it comes to something older, I’d say Mirror’s Edge for its unique artistic side (music by Solar Fields especially). My favorite movie is Call Me by Your Name by Luca Guadagnino, I also love the artistic side of it, it has this summery, Italian atmosphere. My favorite series is Lost. Watching this show as a kid for the first time was something that I’ll never forget.

What game would you take with you to a desert island?

I think The Witcher 3. I’ve always wanted to finish it but never had enough time, so this could be a great opportunity.

Are there any work-related anecdotes you could tell?

ASAPs spread f***ups. Or in Polish “ASAPy sieją f***upy”. Just please, never tell IT to do something ASAP 😉

Would you like to nominate one of your teammates?

I nominate Artur Szczurzyński who is our new IT Director. He can really see through people. I guess this is a skill that each boss should have.
